SPIRITUAL FORMATION SEMINAR: A Praise Report

FIREBRANDS Campus Ministry’s first major event kicked off to a great start. Despite numerous obstacles (sickness, misunderstandings, and hurried preparation to name a few), the volunteers were not to be deterred. All had the same thought in mind: “God is on our side.” So by faith, and with lots of prayer, victory in God’s Kingdom was attained as numerous lives were touched and led to Christ.

The event consisted of a 2-part seminar - the first was about Maximizing Your Learning Power (presented by the Ptr. Sur del Rosario and the Chi-Alpha Campus Ministry Team) while the other one was about Discovering Your Purpose in Life (presented by Ptr. Patrick Tan). Nursing students from all year levels were required to attend – more or less around 250 students.

After the seminar, a mini-concert was presented to prepare the students for the main part of the event – the spiritual formation part. Once the students were all hyped up with the songs, 2 human videos were presented by the Firebrands group. During this time, the Lord was already moving and touching the hearts of the students. Eventually, Ptr. Patrick led the group to a prayer of commitment to Jesus Christ.



Praise Reports:

• 80% of the students gave their lives to the Lord.
• 50% committed to join existing Firebrands cellgroups.

Praise God for this victory! He is doing something good. We are blessed to be a part of the plan the Lord has in mind for the CCM students. Let us continue to do the work God has tasked us to do, never forgetting the He is on our side. The victory has already been won! Jesus has conquered! Let us be ready to reap the harvest.

SALTING Saturday at Universidad de Manila

It was our second Saturday to do SALTING this time in one of our outreach campus ministries in Universidad de Manila. There were 10 volunteers who participated. And out of the 57 students we've spoken and taken survey to, 47 students gave their life to Jesus Christ. It was quite exhilarating but the joy was worth the effort. It was also a surprise blessing when some of these students attended our Saturday Fellowship at 5PM because their professor was absent since it was first weeks of school. Please continue to pray that the seed we have planted in the hearts of these students will grow and in time be ready for harvest!

Amazing Race Binondo

May 19, 2007, 3PM @ BFGFC

Race Reminders:

1. Member registration: P20.00/person
2. Each team should be composed of 2-3 members only.
   
3. Race organizers will not be responsible for any loss and damages on the racers belongings.
4. Please perform each task with much caution.
5. Each team should have: (1) paper & pen (2) drinking water (3) 1 liter Nestea shaker (4) mobile phone, preferably Sun Cellular (5) changing shirt (6) necessary medicines.
6. Each team must wear similar colored shirt on race day.
7. Team members must stay together at all times except when a specific task requires the team to separate.
8. Use of public vehicles such as jeep, pedicab, tricycle or kalesa is allowed at the team's expense. Use of private transportation is prohibited.
9. Race will begin at 3:30PM. Be registered before race time.
10. During team tasks, once the second to the last team completes the task, the last team will be given at least 10 minutes to finish the task. If the team would not be able to complete the task, they will be given a 5-minute penalty at the end of the race.
    

Mission Camp 2007

Praise God for a very successful 5-day mission camp in Valenzuela Full Gospel Family Center. So much was accomplished! We had house-to-house, DVBS, youth conference, film-showing and concert. Truly God's presence was present and moved among the volunteers and the community. For pictures please go to this page.

Firebrands presents "End of the Spear"

This Saturday Firebrands is going to present a film entitled "End of the Spear." Its a the story of Operation Auca, in which five American Christian missionaries attempted to evangelize the Huaorani (Waodani) people of the jungle of Ecuador. Taking a unique spin on actual events from the 1950s in which five male missionaries were speared by members of the Waodani tribe, the movie tells the story from the perspective of Mincayani one of the tribesmen who killed the missionaries and Steve Saint, the son of one of the murdered missionaries. The two eventually form a bond that continues to this day.

Sunday marked our church's 22nd Anniversary, the youth donned our latest green-blue "Ordinary People Meeting an Extra-ordinary God" t-shirt, and the Firebrands Youth Group presented a musical-dance number "Celebrate The Lord of Love." More pix here.
